The new team, which is being described as “human resources,” will help the Apple team respond to human resource concerns about diversity, the people said.
The team will also help the team better understand how the company will be better able to help its employees, these people said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the internal process.
The hires are part of a broader effort to increase diversity in the Apple workforce, these sources said.
Apple is still hiring for the human resources positions, which are in addition to those in HR.
The HR team has been responsible for handling employee complaints and complaints about HR, according the people.
The hires were part of the hiring effort in response to a wide variety of HR issues, the sources said, noting that there are still multiple departments to manage as the hiring team is still being formed.
The HR team will work closely with Apple on all HR issues.
Apple has not yet commented on the hires.
While HR is the number one area for concern, the hiring of human resources has been a hot topic for many tech companies.
Google hired a human resources executive last year after it received a number of complaints about its HR practices.
