Starbucks will pay $1.5 million in bonuses to nearly 1,000 employees at its stores in the United States, the company said Wednesday.
Starbucks said in a statement it had decided to pay the bonuses to its international team members after the company learned about the issue in November.
The company said it had received multiple complaints about the bonuses, which had not yet been paid, and was investigating.
In December, the Starbucks Coffee Roastery in the city of San Francisco was hit with a data breach that exposed customers’ credit card details and account information.
It later confirmed that an unauthorized hacker had gained access to the company’s computer systems and had been able to steal credit card data.
